this weekend spent in kincardine for nick's birthday
members of family present: grammy (it is, afterall, her house), nick (as it was his birthday) meg and alex (nick's kids), mom (nick's sister) dad (explaines itsself) bear (my sister) me (as in me) and pi (b/c he's mine) (total 9)
dinner eddable and no one poisoned
on the whole a relatively painless and farely relaxing family get together....and now pi's seen kincardine in all it's miniature splendour :)

You are 54% geek | You are a geek. Good for you! Considering the endless complexity of the universe, as well as whatever discipline you happen to be most interested in, you'll never be bored as long as you have a good book store, a net connection, and thousands of dollars worth of expensive equipment. Assuming you're a technical geek, you'll be able to afford it, too. If you're not a technical geek, you're geek enough to mate with a technical geek and thereby get the needed dough. Dating tip: Don't date a geek of the same persuasion as you. You'll constantly try to out-geek the other. |
looked at 3 places today
signed the lease on the second place we saw
it's walkable from school, across the rd from a great pizza place that's open really late and a variety store that rents movies.
the rent is a bit more expensive than i'm paying this year but it's way closer to campus, way more space than i have this year, pi can stay over w/o hastle, and the land lord is quite nice.....very VERY italian. his name is luigi and he has 5 kids. he bought us coffee (hot chocolate) and a doughnut at tim's while we were reading over the lease and then drove us both home.
somewhere b/w excited and scared about the new place and i'm hoping mom calls back tonight so that i can tell her i need the cash to finish the deal next tues.

so, detroit's rather a frightening city
went to the museum of african american history
aparently it's the biggest museum on 'the african experience' in the world...except possibly a new one in boston.
i was expecting a bias but not THAT much of a bias. the guide said that the cia had planted crack etc in the ghettos to kill off the expanding black population *sigh*
the museum itself was also less exciting than expected. it might be the largest, but we had seen everything there was to see in less than 3 hours. the explanations next to exhibits weren't really helpful (eg a laddar on a wall tag: a hand made laddar) and about 70% of the exhibits consisted of pictures. would have been more entertaing to read a book about it.
despite that i had a pretty good time and i'm glad i went.
smitty and aimee went too
we went to subway for lunch. they had bullet proof glass on the counter. also the counter's really high (chest level for me) and hard to see over. we found that farely amusing.

you would have more.
